Postpartum Helper Shaking Baby Upside Down and Throwing into the Cushion
Many people are angry at the release of a video of the abuse of a postpartum helper who shakes the newborn upside down.
SBS released a CCTV footage on the 14th showing a postpartum helper abusing an 18-day-old newborn by shaking it upside down and throwing it into a cushion.
The postnatal caregiver in his 50s, who appears on CCTV footage, abused the baby for just 20 minutes when the baby’s mother was away, holding the baby’s two feet upside down, shaking the baby up and down, or harshly putting the crying baby down on the cushion.
When the baby cried, he forced the baby into the baby’s mouth and soon showed that he didn’t even care about the baby by looking at his phone or eating snacks. The postnatal caregiver held the crying baby and shook his body up and down.
Currently, the baby cries often and does not eat well. It is also reported that he is undergoing a thorough examination at a university hospital after finding traces of bruising on his side.
The day before the video was filmed, the baby’s mother installed CCTV, surprised that the postnatal helper said, “If your mother cries because she’s going out,” and learned of the abuse.
Postpartum caregivers acknowledged all of their abuses. The police are investigating the postpartum helper on charges of physical abuse under the Child Welfare Act.
