Director Ang Lee

Taiwanese director Ang Lee, famous for “Waho Jangryong” and “Life of Pi,” will direct Lee’s biographical film.

On Nov. 30 (local time), a number of media outlets, including the U.S. variety, reported that director Ang Lee holds the megaphone in Sony Pictures’ biopic and his second son, Mason Lee, plays Bruce Lee.

Mason Lee has starred in works such as “Lucy,” “Hangover 2” and “Limbo.”

Lee, who died in 1973 at the age of 32, was active as an actor, director, and martial artist. Starting with the TV series “Green Hornet,” he made a deep impression in various works such as “Dangsan Dae-hyung,” “Jeongmu-mun,” “Mengryong and Kang,” “Yongjaeng Ho-tu,” and “Death Play.”

Director Ang Lee said in a statement, “Lee, who was neither fully Chinese nor fully American, served as a bridge between East and West that introduced Chinese kung fu to the world, and was a symbolic artist who revolutionized martial arts and action films.”

He added, “I crave a sense of belonging, and I feel I have to create a story of this smart and unique character who has made impossible dreams a reality through tireless efforts, possessing enormous power in his 135-pound body.”

Meanwhile, Ang Lee has won two Academy Awards for best director for “Brokeback Mountain” and “Life of Pi.” In addition, the Venice Film Festival won the Golden Lion Award for Brokeback Mountain and Sex, Gye, and the Berlin Film Festival won the Golden Bear Award for Wedding Reception and Reason and Sensibility.
